Anime manga and story written by: Kouta Hirano Anime manga and story reviewed by: Aya - chan Animation - 10/10Character Design - 9.7/10 The Anime Plot/Story - 9/10 Music - 10/10 Voice Actors - 10/10 Original Subtitles - 9.5/10 Total Number of Episodes: 13 Overall Grade - A+ For a century, the Royal Protestant Knight Hellsing organization has toiled endlessly to keep humanity from becoming infatuated for the undead. Integra, a strong-willed woman, runs the organization with dedication. Under her is Alucard, an ancient but violent vampire with incredible special abilities that serves Integra and the Hellsing organization, wiping out the undead where ever they pop up. Although skilled in killing, Alucard has taken a new child under his wing, Victoria Seres, a police officer who had to choose between death and mortality. As things complicate for the Hellsing organization, new threats close in. The Hellsing organization has been around for about a century assassinating various undead demons that pop up across the world. The organization is taken over by Integra, a woman who resembles a beautiful man that even a true anime fan will have trouble discerning her gender at first glance. She commands Alucard, a powerful vampire who does all the things you’d expect vampires to be able to do and eradicates vampires and zombies with ruthless efficiency and has a strong bond with Integra. Watching these characters interact is exciting; the dialogue and character interaction is excellently written and executed. Hellsing has the honor of being the most character-driven horror series ever. However, it relies on action to tell the story more than words. Horror itself almost never focuses completely on characters. Hellsing does the opposite; the characters are given as much detail and background as possible. We see Victoria, the confused officer, stumble around and struggle with her newfound immortal life. It’s confusing to watch, and yet captivating. Therein lies the beauty of Hellsing; it isn’t just about blood and terror but with violence tempered with drama that takes itself seriously enough to validate the entire story. Lord Alucard - Jouji Nakata Seres Victoria - Fumiko Orikasa Integral Wingates Hellsing - Yoshiko Sakakibara Walter C. Donne - Motomu Kiyokawa Alexander Anderson - Seiyuu Unknown Director - Umanosuke Iida and Yasunori Urata Original Manga - Kouta Hirano Character Design - Toshiharu Murata Art director - Shinji Katahira Anime Music - Kouta Hirano +BACK+ |
